Quitting smoking is the single best thing you can do for your health

And it's hard. We make it easier.

Most adults who smoke want to quit. About half try in any given year. Less than 10% succeed without help. With the right combination of medication and counseling, success rates double or triple. Tobacco cessation is fully covered by NY Medicaid and most commercial plans.

FAQ

Common questions.

How does NY Medicaid cover this?
NY Medicaid Managed Care plans cover all FDA-approved cessation medications (varenicline, bupropion, all forms of NRT) and all counseling visits at $0 for most members. New York is one of the most generous states for cessation coverage.
How long until cravings go away?
Acute cravings peak in the first 3-7 days after quitting and gradually decrease over weeks. Most people report cravings dramatically diminished by 3 months. The right medication helps significantly with the worst of it.
Is varenicline (Chantix) safe?
Yes. Earlier safety concerns about psychiatric side effects (depression, suicidal thinking) were largely addressed by the EAGLES trial (2016) which showed varenicline is as safe as nicotine patches. It is the most effective single agent for quitting.
Can I use this for vaping?
Yes. Vaping addiction is increasingly common, especially in younger adults. The same medications and counseling approach work for vaping cessation. We have specific protocols for high-nicotine pod-based vaping (Juul, Vuse).
What if I've tried to quit before and failed?
That's normal — most quitters need 7-10 attempts before lasting success. Each attempt teaches you something. We approach repeat attempts strategically: what worked, what didn't, what's different this time.

Most quitters try 7-10 times. Make this the one.
